The University of Nebraska-Omaha's new Community Engagement Center (CEC) will serve as both the front door to the campus and as the university's signature outreach venue. The CEC will support expansion of university-community partnerships, help meet growing demands for community meeting and planning space and extend the campus' logistical resources to its community partners.

Join us on Thursday, Feb. 20 as Sara Woods, Assistant to the UNO Senior Vice Chancellor for Community Engagement, and Robyn Long, Centennial Engagement Community Fellow, provide an overview of the CEC and its commitment to a dynamic civic engagement agenda.  You are bound to come away with some transferable ideas that will help your organization build awareness and achieve its own community outreach goals and objectives.

Sara Woods, a UNO alum, most recently served as associate dean for the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS).  In her current role, she oversees the development of building operations and protocols; helps identify potential long and short-term community users of the building; serves as a liaison between UNO and the Omaha and Council Bluffs communities; assists in accommodating the needs of CEC building residents; and manages building programming.  Her previous leadership roles in nonprofit agencies include serving as past chair of The Women’s Fund of Omaha and the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands.

Robyn Long works with several key members at UNO and within the community to begin UNO's efforts of university-community partnerships. This involves the university faculty, students and community non-profits and organizations to collaborate in a shared space for better individual, university and community success. She has dealt with many of the PR efforts, event planning, reservations and will hope to begin an area of research on university and community partnerships as the building evolves at its most prominent time.
