Join AFP Nebraska on Thursday, April 16, to hear from a panel of experienced major gifts professionals. Our panelists will answer questions about how they identify and research prospective donors, and how they make initial contact, advance a relationship, make an ask, and steward major gift-level donors. Learn how they apply industry best practices to the day-to-day challenges of major gifts fundraising, and what you can do to succeed at major gifts fundraising.

Panelists will include:

  • Meg Johnson, Assistant Vice President for Development with the University of Nebraska Foundatiion
  • Michael Findley, J.D., Executive Director of CUES
  • Hillary Nather-Detisch, MPA, CFRE, Director of Development at the Joslyn Art Museum

More about our panelists:

Meg Johnson

Meg has worked in the nonprofit sector for more than 25 years. Meg worked for the NU foundation from 1997-2001 and rejoined the team in 2011 to work on behalf of UNMC. Her past non-profit experience includes Nebraska Children and Family Foundation, the Arthritis Foundation and Family Violence Council. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Nebraska Wesleyan University and is a past-president of AFP-Nebraska.

Michael Findley

An Omaha native, Mike attended Creighton Prep High School, Creighton University (B.A. in English), and Creighton School of Law. For the last 18 years, Mike has worked with nonprofit organizations all over the country, focusing on schools. Mike joined CUES in 2013 after leading the Steier Group as its President for 14 years. Mike just completed the CAP program through the Omaha Community Foundation, a graduate level Certified Advisor in Philanthropy certification through the American College in Philadelphia.

Hillary Nather-Detisch

Hillary has over 15 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector as both a fundraiser and grant maker.  She joined the Joslyn Art Museum as its Director of Development in 2014. Prior to joining the Joslyn, Hillary worked for United Way of the Midlands, the Omaha Community Foundation, and the Omaha Children’s Museum. Hillary has a BA in Political Science from San Francisco State University, participated in the Museum Studies Certificate Program at Harvard University and an MPA from UNO.  Hillary is a past president of AFP-Nebraska and is a graduate of Leadership Omaha Class 28.
