12:10 – 1:00 – Program:  Attracting, Retaining, Engaging and Developing Millennials in your Nonprofit Workplace

The U.S. Census Bureau has determined that the Millennial Generation, comprised of people ages 18-35, is now the largest living generation in the US, surpassing the Baby Boomer generation in terms of size.

Millennials currently make up approximately 38% of the workforce. Expectations are that Millennials will make up a majority of the workforce by 2020, and some estimates are that Millennials could make up as much as 75% of the workforce in the United States by 2025.

Gallup has recently released findings from what many believe to be the most comprehensive study of Millennials in the Workforce to date. Join Gallup and AFP Nebraska in August to learn about the unique characteristics of the Millennial Generation and how to Attract, Retain, Engage and Develop Millennials in your nonprofit workplace. The presentation will also touch on what Millennials are seeking from workplace giving and volunteer programs.

J. Brandon Rigoni, Ph.D., Gallup’s Associate Director for Talent-Based Hiring and Development, will share some of the most compelling insights - some of which will reaffirm what many of us already believe to be true and others that will fly in the face of current conventional wisdoms - all to help you be more effective and get the most out of the Millennial Generation in your nonprofit workplace.

Presenter J. Brandon Rigoni, Ph.D., is the Associate Director for Talent-Based Hiring and Development at Gallup. He consults with organizations on how using a scientific, systematic approach to employee selection and development can engage employees, improve business outcomes and increase shareholder value.

Dr. Rigoni serves as a thought leader and strategic adviser to Gallup clients and associates on the company’s talent-based hiring and development science. He helps set the strategic direction for Gallup’s talent-based hiring and development practice, assessing and prioritizing new research and development opportunities. His insights on how people and businesses can capitalize on human talent have appeared on Gallup.com.

Prior to joining Gallup, Dr. Rigoni was the founder and president of a privately held consulting company. He is a co-developer of Elite Form Technology and co-designer of the Nebraska Athletic Performance Lab. Dr. Rigoni also was a member of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln football coaching staff, and his research has been featured in ESPN The Magazine.

Dr. Rigoni earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in neuroscience and behavior with a minor in management from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He achieved three-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors, was named the team’s most valuable player and was elected team captain while playing for the University of Nebraska football team.
